STORM ELOISE SENDS WILDLIFE INTO LIMPOPO HOMES

Recent heavy rains drive hippos and crocodiles into people’s homes!

SABC News reports that rivers in Limpopo are overflowing, because of the heavy rains brought by tropical storm Eloise. Residents who live close to the Mvude river in Limpopo are concerned the wet weather will drive hippos and crocodiles into their communities.

On Sunday, according to the media corporation, a crocodile was found near a homestead, causing panic among the residents. The crops in a nearby mealie field also got damaged, possibly by hippos.

The residents close to the river are urging both the Department of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries and Home Affairs to build a perimeter fence that could stop the animals from wondering into the communal land.
